Wednesday, May 13, 2015 - Dark magenta color. No signs of bricking. Very polished.
Initially mixed berries and eucalyptus on the nose, gives way to black licorice and roasted pepper skins.
Mixture of dark and red fruits, licorice and an astringent tree bark on the palate. Nice acidity. Still very tannic. Long, mouth-watering finish. Drinks more like an old world wine made in a new world style than new world all the way.
Really hard to believe this wine is nearly 18 years old. I would guess its best years are 3 to 5 years from now. I wish I had more.
