Thursday, March 31, 2022 - Okay, so when I think of VV, Pinot doesn’t jump to mind, but I’m aware of the proprietors’ love for Burgundy, so I was hopeful this wouldn’t be an overcooked, baking spice-laden RRV-style Pinot, and it wasn’t . Red raspberries, red cherries, red currants, forest floor, fallen leaves, earthiness and ground spice. Really notable acidity gives this lift and freshness, all the more appreciated after the cabs, which while wonderful, started feeling slightly ponderous as I got to the end of the lineup. Although I tend to like my Pinots young to preserve that freshness, this also some good tannic structure, and I think that there’s upside here as well. 94+

CT friend csimm, who shares a love of White Burgs with me, suggested that when I reach out to VV I mention wines I’d had of theirs and those I was particularly interested in trying, based on his telling me it was one of the closest things to a WB you’d find on our shores. Alas, Samantha told me that they were already sold out of the current release, and Ilsa not only confirmed that, but said the ‘21 allocation is already gone, too. Sounds like super small production. Will have to rely on the kindness and generosity of my wine-loving friends to taste that one!

4/3/2022 9:12:00 AM - You may need to be careful with what you offer; I live in Noe Valley. I do tastings with CT friends and would welcome including you (assuming you leave the gator at home). Please let me know when you’re on, and I’ll leave you my personal e-mail in a comment, then scrub in the 90 minute window (or you can leave me yours, and do the same, or not). Look forward to connecting.
