Friday, February 13, 2009 - P&P. Color dark cherry red. Initial nose of dark berries, sweet cherries, chocolate, some bell pepper, a little oak. On the slurp sweet chocolate covered cherries, a little earth, oak lingering in the background. With air time this becomes less sweet and more serious with dark berries, which is welcome. Acid low, very mild tannins, relatively short finish. Day 2 from capped bottle no vacuum, the fruit is mildly oxidized but otherwise largely the same; this holds together pretty well. Overall a pleasant but simple merlot. Good QPR.
