Thursday, January 23, 2014 - Chicago Wine Flock..."Top Central Coast Syrah from Rich" (House of Nanda - Chicago IL): Tasted double blind. Open 5+ hours before serving, with a quick double decant when opened. Started with huge spice and ultra ripe fruit and a powerful, slightly off-putting garrigue character, which softened over time into something charming. Lots of black fruit with a real dark plum essence, but still well balanced. I thought this wine in the middle of tonight's flight after one hour with the 12 wines, but found it much longer and more interesting at the end of the night. I liked this wine, but the group liked it even more than I did tonight.
