Wednesday, July 9, 2014 - I have previously said that the Poker Face is the most opulent SQN syrah I've ever had and the Raven the most exotic. I found the Atlantis to have the purest expression of Rhone varieties and a deep sense of place. To me, the character lies somewhere in between a Chateauneuf and a Cote-Rotie. It is so fragrant with wildflowers, grilled summer fruits, a bounty of farmers market produce, dried herbs, and bay leaves. I loved drinking this without decanting and watching it evolve over the course of the meal. The mouthfeel is luxuriously silky, blueberries, and peppery bacon, with an elegant weightlessness that I also found in the JFTLOI. Drank Fe203-1b bottle.
