Friday, February 2, 2024 - Decanted at 5pm and after an hour ran it through a venturi 3 times before returning to the bottle and taking to a local restaurant. The wine looks very youthful with no sign of bricking, bright dark garnet. Nose is slightly smokey with hints of minerals and plenty of dark red fruit. Palate is rich but balanced with good acidity, just a touch of unintegrated tannin and beautiful texture. Fruit is right there, black cherry, pomegranate, some black fruit as well with an undertone of chalky minerals and some sweet pipe tobacco, leather and cedar on the finish. Elegant but also showing controlled power and depth. Really enjoyable with upside in the future!
