93 Points

Sunday, May 1, 2022 - Great label and a quality wine for the money, a solid 'bang for the buck' value. This wine opens with an intense purple color and amazing aromatic bouquet. Palate wise, very good but slightly dialed back when compared with my first couple of bottles (see previous notes). Better days lie ahead for this vintage, fantastic now with decanting, but it should pick up more traction over the next few months. 93/93+ Points now.

5/3/2022 3:32:00 PM - Curious if you bought or are planning to buy any of the Becklyn library wines? I bought my full allotment of the 2020 Becklyn Napa cab but I’m still considering the others. I’m intrigued by the Pangkarra cab, however, most of Mike’s “reserve” cabs that I’ve had like the G3 Empyrean were richer/sweeter than the regular G3 which I didn’t prefer.

5/3/2022 3:52:00 PM - Although I wouldn't mind having more of them, the answer is no. I have a decent supply of the 2015-2019 NV's, some MH and Pangkarra in the cellar.

5/3/2022 4:17:00 PM - I have a lot of the 2018 & 2019 Napa cab and some of the 2017. I thought about buying more of the 2017 Napa cab but as it has softened-up it has become sweeter - almost Syrah like in my opinion. I’ll probably just stick with the 2020 Napa cab. The 2019 Missouri Hopper at $125 is a good price for Beckstoffer fruit but I already have a fair amount. I was tempted to pop one to get an idea where it’s at but I already have a lot of higher-end 2019s laying down so I think I’m going to pass. Take care.
