90 Points

Thursday, February 27, 2020 - Asparagus gang at Imperial Treasure. Drank in Gabriel Standart. Tasted blind.
Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of dark herbs, earth funk, dark red cherries, black cherries. Developed.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13%), resolving medium+ tannins, medium body. Medium flavour intensity, with flavours of ripe dark red cherries, black cherries, earth, dark herbs, bits of savoury meat. Medium+ finish.
Good quality. Seems rather un-Pinot-like. I was guessing Loire Cab Franc in a ripe vintage possibly 2005.
Wow amazed when shown that this was a 2005 Bourgogne Rouge. So apparently this was a tannic beast in its youth. Tannins are slowly resolving now, and ripe dark fruit is still pretty much alive. Only clue about its level is its rather straight nature without layers. My guess is that there is probably a large proportion of Gevrey fruit in here.
