Saturday, October 8, 2022 - Color: Purple, inching towards dark ruby.
Nose: Big dark fruit. Jammy. Stewed cherry, blackberry. Comes in hot (it should, it's 14.5%!)
Palate: Big juicy expressions of dark and blue fruit. Very balanced for a wine of its size and complexity. Great round flavors of cassis and dark raspberry, with earthy notes on the finish.
Body: Big in both mouth feel and flavor. Medium plus tannins. Medium acidity.
Finish: Dry but not bone dry. The jamminess stays until the near end, but still allows the wine to dry out to finish.
Overall a very nice Washington Syrah. Bold and tannic, yet smooth enough to not be overwhelming. Paired with a ribeye and herbed mushrooms. Stood up to the steak, but actually matched better with the herbaceous of the mushrooms. A great value at the price point.
