It could just be the style of this wine, and it is a 2006 -- so it's been sitting for a few years. [edit:] the label does say "rich fruit, full body, and smooth finish" -- which are actually NOT things I would expect in a Fume Blanc (which I think of as a very austere Sauv Blanc). I wonder if it is a bit of malo-lactic going on, but then, again, either intentionally or not, I don't think that's something the winemaker would want in a Fume Blanc.
