Wednesday, October 13, 2021 - Good. It took a while for the nose to start to appear. I should have decanted this for a fair amount of time. Once the nose got going, it was showing very ripe, almost stewed red berries and plums. The oak is also rather present. Fortunately, the palate is very lively. The fruit is present and accompanied by a very nice streak of acidity and grippy tanins. The oak is also noticeable on the palate but the mid-palate and finish bring some mint and herbal notes with a slight bitterness. There is some heat on the finish though and the oak is slightly too present for my taste. This needs time to integrate but it has the structure to do so. I'd love to try this again with some age.
