Tuesday, July 21, 2009 - Opened at a restaurant and was not decanted but consumed over 2 1/2 hrs. Ruby color with bricking. Nose of blackberry, cassis, pencil lead. Similar on the palate with some stones, earth. Nice acidity. Gentle tannins provided good balance. After 2 hours, there were hints of meatiness as well as a floral character as the wine opened up. This was really terrific, not a blockbuster, but a great example of a complex, balanced, elegant wine. Paired well with roasted pheasant.
