Friday, September 30, 2022 - Wow. My first time tasting this producer, and I'd heard great things, but I'm delighted to report that this wine delivers. Muscular cherry, vigorous yet suave and refined, in no way outsized nor cloying, which is surprising given the volume and palpable mass of fruit. Some earthy notes on the late finish--not stem, but earthy and rosy, with some darker earthy elements that bring to mind asphalt. A gentle, pleasant sweetness from the ripe fruit's contact with 20% new oak. This would outperform many a red Burgundy at the same price point. A fruit-driven wine of pleasure and generosity which retains a sense of identity and finesse. Quite nice. Some smokiness on the late finish, liking from the barrel char.
