Saturday, December 25, 2021 - Somewhat of an anomaly here. Labeled as an MA (Marque d’ Acheteur) with no disgorgement date listed. The website does not list this vintage on the website but lists the '98 and the '02. No varietal breakdown but the vineyard used in the Montagne de Reims seem to be Pinot Meunier heavy. No dosage info avail. The rare line seems to be a late disgorgement, and from the looks of it this saw an en tirage of 17 years.

Needs some airtime to open up, but once allowed to breathe aromas of oxidized white peach, bruised apple, persimmon and quince paste show with notes of biscuit, brioche, toasted pine nut, chalk and flint with hints of dried white flowers, dried lemon peel, tobacco, dried mushroom and funky earth.
On the palate, the mousse is delicate with a quickly fading bubble structure. Moderate weight on the palate with a fleshy texture on the mid-palate. Acidity and phenolics are well integrated into the wine and both moderate-plus. Flavors show a mix of biscuits and brioche notes that mix with toasted pine nut, almond paste, tobacco, mushroom, and a light herbaceousness before incorporating notes of bruised and sauced apples, oxidized stone fruit, membrillo, dried lemon zest and notes of chalk and mineral. the finish is long and lengthens with airtime.
