Saturday, March 23, 2024 - Purchased as two consecutive by-the-glass orders from the same newly-uncorked bottle, this medium-to-deep ruby wine (100% Sangiovese) was serially tasted over a 90-minute interval. Intensely aromatic, it offers an array of red currant and Montmorency cherry fruit that is accented with notes of cinnamon, cocoa, coriander, lavender and loamy earth. Medium-bodied, freshly acidic, seamlessly alcoholic (14%) and with well-integrated wood, it delivers flavors mirroring the nose, wrapped with a modicum of silky-textured tannins. Nicely dense on the mid-palate and lengthy on the finish, this is a delicious Chianti Classico that can be successfully paired with just about any Italian tomato-based dish. Give it an hour or more of air if possible. Drink now-2028.
