Saturday, September 30, 2023 - Burgundy tasting (K&L Wine Merchant - San Francisco): Nose of rose petals, and vivid cherries with some blueberries. There’s a bit of pronounced ripeness, similar to something like a grenache from central coast, as if the fruit flavors had an aura of cranberry (trying to describe "neon berries" without using Jolly Ranchers). Somehow this quality of ripeness works because it is quite subtle. With little time, nose improves with a darker fruit approach and some deep earth (be patient, the nose definitely got better with air).

The palate showed tart cherries with a bit of freshness, with a center streak of bitter cranberries that lead into the finish. Savory river minerals, dried aged oak and heavily steeped tea on the finish as well. Good acidity here but seems to be missing something, not quite sure what.
