Wednesday, June 27, 2018 - Solid cork, though recessed by 1/4” and moldy on top. Bottom neck fill. Amber, plum autumnal edge - deep core. Classic cassis top notes intermingled with shrooms and underbrush. Still vibrant and structured mountain cab despite a hot vintage which created many pruney wines. Fruity first impression is followed by muted spices and berry melange of flavors which linger on the extended finish. No longer impressive fruit nor especially complex, but shows how solid structure and balanced fruit holds up nicely after more than 40 years. Dare I wait until 2026 for my last bottle?
