98 Points

Monday, June 17, 2013 - Wow. I don't know how anybody could give this wine anything lower than a 95, lest they had a flawed bottle or one that was improperly stored. Mine was spectacularly good. Integrated oak that is seamless yet present upon pop & pour with some creamy vanilla, then for the next hour said oak evolves from maybe some old, earthy sherried scotch barrels until those oak notes fade into the background to show an ever evolving palette of berries and red fruit. Super intense on the palate, with fruity, vibrant acid drive, fully integrated silky tannins, and a lingering finish. A hint of smoke, just a bare hint of smoke, pops in and out of the wine as it opens up.

Holy cow this thing has become a berry salad, a veritable cornucopia of berry flavors and scents. Blackberries, cassis, kirsch, raspberries, even blueberries and strawberries, each clearly delineated, waiting their turn to show up on and bow out of center stage. I am seriously digging this.

I wish this moment could last forever. Anyway, if it's well cellared, this could probably last a while bit longer but if I were you I'd drink up as it is unbelievably beautiful right now.
