Sunday, June 17, 2018 - First of 6 purchased on release. Good cork, wet about a quarter up. Dark red. Intense nose of spicy fruit, sandalwood, and iron. Excellent body on the palate but with significant tannins to resolve. Decanted at this point. After 2 hours or so this still shows intense body and tannins at age 16! I can't tell if the fruit will outlast the tannins or not. Perhaps more integrated tomorrow. This shows some resemblance to the LSG 2002 on last tasting a few years ago when it also showed awkward fruit/tannin balance. Too young, the vintage, time will tell.
