Wednesday, May 18, 2005 - Bright ruby color, slight bricking at edge. Complex aroma of black fruit, floral elements, earth, and red fruit. On the palate, lovely acid and fine fully resolved tannins. The fruit however has faded, offering barely a a shadow of the vibrant fruit I've experienced with the '01, and expected from the '91. The finish was extended, layered and complex. If the fruit hadn't faded this would have been a wonderful wine. Pity. Since I feel confident of the provenance, I wonder what happened...
