Friday, November 25, 2022 - This young New Zealand Pinot Noir tastes great !!
A real cork closure (unusual for New Zealand these days) was perfect and easily removed. This young wine is medium ruby colored and good clarity. Consumed over three days. The wine initially improved with time and oxygen, by day three the wine was singing. Aromas of pomegranate and strawberry. Flavors of black cherry, cola, raspberry, strawberry compote, some spice and violet notes with a medium finish. A balanced and flavorful Pinot Noir. This age worthy wine has many more years of life remaining. Cuvée H is a blend of the best Pinot Noirs in the cellar to create a balanced and elegant wine. A good value wine from 5 different Southern Valley vineyards plus from Fromm's own plantings surrounding the winery in Marlborough, New Zealand. These grapes were destemmed before vinification. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature for 28 days, then aged for 14 to 16 months with a small amount in new French oak barrels and the rest in neutral barrels. An excellent winemaking effort in an elegant European style by Hätsch Kalberer.
