94 Points

Thursday, September 7, 2023 - During a walkabout tasting, so only brief impressions. The 2021 wines of this producer were real highlight. All of them precise but not thin with excellent aromatic depth. The Marienburg GG (94) from gray slate was zesty with grassy notes. The Marienburg Rothenpfad GG (95) from red slate was more spicy, deeper with herbs. The Marienburg Falkenlay GG (96+) from gray slate deeper still and creamier, the most expressive of all of them and my favorite today. The Marienburg Fahrlay GG (94+) from blue slate very complex but the most closed with lots of potential. Finally the Marienburg Fahrlay Reserve (94+) which is from the same plot but was 24 instead of 12 months on lees was even richer, but not necessarily better for my palate.
