Monday, March 29, 2010 - I'm stunned by a couple of things. First, the dramatic difference of opinion on this wine. Some find it heavy, some light. Some find it approachable, others find it tannic. All this has me wondering a bit about bottle variation.

For me, the second stunner is how approachable this is, even immediately after the "pop". Very new world in style. As another reviewer mentioned, there are some similarities to a Rhone, or even a Tablas Creek Esprit de Beaucastel. Very rich, resinous. For me, the tannins are very much in check. My wife didn't pick this out as a Nebbiolo, and I wouldn't have either if this had been served blind. I really like this wine, but traditionalists could likely be disappointed.
