Sunday, March 3, 2019 - My first Barolo. Previously I have been drinking Sangiovese in Italy and so my comments are probably relative to that palette. Wine was wound up and took a full day to open up. At that point, I got a bouquet of rose, tobacco and leather. I think this wine is drinking well now but should continue to age well.

Overall I was struck by the backbone of the wine. This is a serious wine with tannins that are firm but not rough. Body is big and length is medium to long. Wine stayed in balance for about 30 seconds after which I could sense the alcohol taking over a bit. Overall I really enjoyed the wine and thought that it was a good switching choice for me given my past experiences with Sangiovese and the fact that La Morra is really known for finesse in the world of Barolos. If this is what feminine is in the Barolo world, I cant wait to taste what masculine would be.
