Thursday, August 17, 2023 - In January 2006, I had my first Schieferterrassen, from the 2004 vintage. I was immediately taken in by its richness. This one is slightly leaner and drier. At first, I thought that it smelled unmistakably like Mosel, and then that it resembled a spätlese trocken. With more air, it found its true shape. It is rich within a firmer frame than earlier but it is still truly a Heymann Löwenstein wine, and I still love it. I guess it will improve over three or six years, but Heymann Löwenstein wine live up to the old Storm P. [lDanish cartoonist] advertisement for Tuborg beer: When is Tuborg best? - Every time!
On the second day, we had the remaining half out of Zalto burgundy glasses. My God , is this good! I can't think of a Meursault that would perform this well. Fabulous intensity, elegance and coherence and balance. Riesling rules, and so does Heymann Löwenstein.
