Friday, December 31, 2021 - Opened and double decanted about 8 hrs before dinner. Paired with pasta & white truffles and steak & fries. My cellar is pretty bare on truly old Barolo, but still was in the mood given the truffles. In short-this feels like in an in between stage, but drinking well- pretty great with the steak; needs time for that truffle pairing. Dark red fruits and floral notes dominate the nose. Resolved on the palate, though still a bit compact. Probably needs another decade or two for it to get where its going, and if this weren't my last bottle, I'd be eager to go along for the ride.
