90 Points

Tuesday, July 1, 2008 - Popped and poured a taste before decanting.

Color: Almost opaque purple with a lighter rim.
Aroma: At first yeast and dusty floral notes, a wave of smoked meat, plums, cocoa, and some day old campfire.
Taste: In separate tastes I alternately get some nice cherries, strawberry (twizzler), sweet red plums up front. The fruit flavors seem to carry through to the middle where it is joined by some milk chocolate and llght smokiness.

This is nice, easy drinking stuff for sure. No need to decant this thing. Just pop, pour, swish, and it's good to go. I love wines like this; great value, great drinkers, and great with food. No guilt and plenty of pleasure. The world needs more wines like this. It's a bit simplistic, but who cares? The aromas peel off in layers and the wine evolves in mouth over time, so you can enjoy that too.

What's not to like?
