95 Points

Saturday, October 28, 2023 - Decided to pop a bottle with the plan of drinking it over two days, however, I didn’t get to day two - too good on day one. Dark ruby fruit - currants, blackberry, dark raspberry, and some blueberry. Smooth mid-palate with a nice purity and solid depth/concentration. Nice vibrant/expressive flavors of cassis, baking spices, some cocoa, and a little graphite component. Decent finish but not overly long nor deep. Popped/poured but drank out of a decanter for around three hours. Improved with time and showed its best towards the end of the session as it opened-up further. Once again, another nice vintage of this wine and no surprise of the 94 to 96 rating from WA. 100% cab.

10/28/2023 1:59:00 PM - Badmonkey I have only drank one 2021 bottle. Do you feel like the 2021's are drinking well early like the 2019's?

10/28/2023 2:33:00 PM - I’ve only had a handful of 2021s so far.The 2021 Quivet Kenefick Ramch cab is drinking really well young. The 2021 Myriad Napa cab took a couple days to come around which was a little surprising. I also like how the 2021 Fait Main cab is drinking young. I’ve only had one higher-end 2021 cab so far and that was the Myriad G3 cab because I was considering buying more to lay down but wanted to check it out first. It took a couple days to come around. In all, I believe a lot of 2021 entry level cabs are pretty approachable at this really youthful stage. Take care.

10/28/2023 3:08:00 PM - Thanks Badmonkey! My Quivet's are coming in a week. Going to give the Kenefick Ranch a try after I let the bottle settle.

10/29/2023 4:38:00 PM - I’m not sure you’re paying attention to the notes on the 2021 vintage so far. The 2021 Quivet Kenefick Ranch is surprisingly drinking quite well at this really youthful stage. However, I popped a 2021 Myriad Napa cab and it clearly needs more time but showed well on day three. Same with the 2021 Myriad G3 cab - giving it two to three years as recommended by the Winery makes sense.
