Saturday, October 3, 2020 - Appearance: Cork was broken (dry, and soft) causing extra sediment in the wine. Deep garnet at the core, medium garnet—almost copper—at the rim. Medium-light viscosity on the legs (13.5% alcohol).

Nose: Condition is good and intensity is medium to high. Primary notes are prune, forest floor (earthiness in general with some tree bark and mushroom elements), and tobacco. Hints of anise and cured meats.

Palate: Primary note is bitter dark chocolate. Wine has a nutty quality and displays traces of leather. Very smooth drinking with soft tannins and medium acidity. Low alcohol and low-to-medium body.

Food Pairing: We paired it with nuts, but as with most Italian wines, almost anything Italian would be great with this, especially something with parmesan fattiness and tomato-based acid. Spaghetti and meatballs or pasta pomodoro would make for a divine pairing here.
