Friday, September 28, 2012 - Browning at the rim; a dark garnet color, with some bricking characteristics. This wine seemed a little smoother in the mouth about three years ago, when I last tasted it. It has a slight acidic sting on the tongue now. But, it’s still an elegant wine. I get aromas of cherry, some raspberry, earth, tobacco, leather, herbs, mild and nicely integrated oak and a touch of mint on top. Similar flavors, except the mint is absent. Good acid and structure. A medium to long finish. A good food wine. Pairs very well with grilled pork chops, with Cajun dust sprinklings. The wine has a few years left. 24 HOURS LATER: after vacu-vin, still drinking quite nice; the the fruit has pretty good concentration and I feel confident in the wine's aging potential.
