Thursday, October 16, 2014 - Still very dark and young looking, center to edge. Dull nose when opened, a bit of funk that blew off quickly. Decanted 1-1/2 hrs. to start. No sediment. Initially a whiff of Rutherford in the nose with black fruit and meat aromas. Cassis, earth with balance and soft tannins. Light-medium body. Short-medium length finish. This got better after being open 3 hours. Delicate, perfumed nose, better fruit on the palate. Only problem for me is that it was, in the end, missing the true "Rutherford" notes that I remember from years ago. This could have come from anywhere in the valley. Third bottle over three years. Best of the group, showing steady improvement. This would go another year (in my passive cellar) and may continue to open up.
