Friday, August 11, 2023 - Shiraz vines from Eden Valley's Mount Edelstone vineyard dating back over a century to 1912.

This is the cornerstone cuvee of Henschke.

Spicy dark fruits, pepper and such velvety tannins. Bright medium++ acidity.

Mount Edelstone has been crafted by the Henschke family for over 65 years now and is arguably the longest consecutively produced, single-vineyard wine in Australia.

Planted in 1912 by Ronald Angas, a descendant of George Fife Angas who played a significant role in the founding of South Australia, the Mount Edelstone Vineyard comprises solely of Shiraz, which was unusual for its time. It was first bottled as a single-vineyard wine in 1952 by Cyril Henschke.

Whilst Wheelwright and this Mt Edelstone 2018 was part of the Distinguished wine tasting.. Jodie added both the Cyrill and iconic Hill of Grace in part due to our enthusiasm!

AUD 245 at the Cellardoor But would be surprised if one could get the iconic 2018 vintage for much longer.. its special. Very special.

An unforgettable time at Henschke Keyneton on a blue skied winters morning in the Barossa Valley, South Australia.
