90 Points

Sunday, February 27, 2011 - Disgorged in 2006. (Probably based on the 2000 harvest with 40% reserve wine). It's great that they print the disgorgement year on the back of the bottle as this one really benefits from a few years in the cellar. This was a wonderful rich golden colour with a 'smoothed out' creamy nose (not in a fresh way) and a slight nuttyness on the palate. Tasted blind In would have thought that this was a vintage champagne from the early 90s!Many would probably prefer this with a year or so less age on it. This bottle had none of the toastiness I found with bottles disgorged in 2007, which were much fresher and younger in mouth feel. (More fruit and bubbles. Judging by bottles of this that have been released with both the disgorgement date and the year of cellaring, those disgorged in 2006 are based on the 2000 harvest while those disgorged in 2007 are often based on the 2003 harvest. This could go some way to explaining why the bottles disgorged in 2006, taste much older than those disgorged just 1 year later. (lots of extra time on the lees.)

Great QPR. The best 'non-vintage vintage champagne' that there is. Will buy more.
