Friday, May 16, 2008 - This was last week's wine of the week on Peter Liem's very super terrific champagne blog. I saw it at the wine shop for much less than the advertised price and decided to try it. It's good if a little treacly. Candied pear, acacia honey and toast on the nose. With some air, a nuttiness arrived (with all the other sweet, I'm comfortable calling it praline). It was less precise in the mouth. There's good balance and a creamy mouthfeel. Nice chalky finish. But an ever-present (over-bearing?) sweetness. This must be at the upper end of brut, dosage-wise. I LOVE the style and erudition of Liem's champagne recommendations, but I don't have to love every bubble.
