Monday, December 4, 2023 - As mentioned in other notes, this is not a classic Tempranillo wine, to the point where I would love to see if even one of the many You-Tube sommeliers could identify this by region in a blind-tasting, but having read the other reviews before I purchased this wine, I had a better idea of what I was buying, and, at $13, the QPR is high if you are looking for a bigger, new-world style weekday red. 1 hour decant, 60 F. Deep purple-red color, to the point where the question isn't did they use a variation of Mega Purple, but instead how much did they use. Subdued nose of blackberry, tobacco and a hint of oaky bacon which gradually intensifies with time and air. A bit of heat on the nose and palate which should integrate over the next few years, velvety tannins. Fresh acidity. Big black sweet fruits on the palate, vanilla, spicy oak, more tobacco and notes of cedar. Short drying finish. May improve a bit with a few years of age, but this is not a long-term cellar wine.
