90 Points

Friday, April 22, 2011 - This bottle has been in my cellar for several years, a great gift from a great friend. Having just read that no one ever made a mistake opening a bottle of Pinot noir in it's seventh year, I decided to test the theory. It's true! Though a year before the beginning of its drinking window, this is already a Summit. Dark ruby with nice legs, after a half hour decant, the nose is spice, brambles and cherries. On the palate, it's got a distinctive combination of strawberry tartness with allspice intrigue. But the texture is the real standout -- smooth and silky, with a great long finish. Bullseye, Archery.
