Sunday, June 11, 2017 - Complex undergrowth, dark fruits and raspberry nose with a touch of liquorice. Good length. Starting to suffer from some volatile acidity and the fruit is unbalanced by the tannins. I fear the fruit will go out before the tannins are resolved and the wine will never go through a good drinking phase. Looking over my notes on 20 or more 2000's, whilst there are some very good wines there are a lot of wines that don't live up to the reputation of the vintage or have quickly gone from promising to prematurely aged. Second wines of 1st growths seem to have done better than 'super seconds'. 2000 is a good vintage, too inconsistent to be the great vintage it was hyped up to be. I'll try another in 2 years.
