Sunday, July 23, 2023 - I am a fan of Almaviva and the 2001 is one of the many reasons why…. It a fabulous example of a ripe, opulent, full bodied wine.
This bottle is in a excellent place right now. No decant. A bit shy at the beginning but immediately enjoyable. Deep dark color, the nose Cabernet dominated. A fantastic bouquet of black currant, blueberries, espresso, leather, toast, vanilla. A marvelous, thick and velvet texture. Very long and very silky finish with decent and noble tannins. Will hold an estimated 5 more years.
