Friday, November 5, 2021 - Took to wine buddy Siggy's fabulous 50th B-Day party at Spoon & Stable in Minneapolis. Opened one hr prior to leaving home. Finding it open & resolved decided not to decant. Upon arrival, removed the cork again & further slow-oxed till poured 2hrs+ later following champagne & still whites. Perfuse aromas of roses, berries & underbrush. The palate is as elegant & tastefully luxuriant as the interior of a brand new Jaguar F-Type. Perhaps better than any other producer in Burgundy, Rousseau captures the essence of Pinot Noir as it thrives in Gevrey Chambertin's marvelous terroir. This is a wine of weightless high toned red fruit, site geology, fleeting spices & game bird notes. Most of all, that stunning purity & finesse evident in every Rousseau btl. 13% alc. A great btl to mark the occasion! 2 left to further explore in 3-5.
