Saturday, November 5, 2011 - Uncorked and let it open up for about 40 minutes before tasting. Nice floral bouquet, mostly roses, with ever-so-slight peppermint on the nose. Not as bold and overwhelming like some of the other reviews suggested, at least not to me. Not a sticky wine, in that the flavor doesn't seem to last overly long. This wine would probably compliment a meal well, as it isn't too overpowering. Fruitiness, followed by an a very light earthy, leathery finish that isn't anything special and not as strong as most Riojas. Almost a tad sweeter then most wines of this region that I am used to having, and I am kind of wondering if it might be blended with Grenache or Cabernet Sauvignon. Easy, dark red wine to drink. Good beginner wine if you are just starting to explore Spanish reds, but nothing super impressive. The price was right, too. I think it is definitely at its peek, at least for the 06 vintage.
