93 Points

Wednesday, January 13, 2010 - Extracted, very full-bodied, quite rich, but also complex and balanced. Deep, dark berry fruit with warming spices, smoke, and bacon notes. Acidity gives freshness, ripe tannins provide grip, and both work beautifully to show off the depth and richness of the palate. This is a wine to come back to in 5 - 8 years, though it's drinking beautifully now (especially in Ohio, where these cold winter nights call for big, warming reds). If in that time all these elements (various flavors and aromas, perception of acidity and tannin) manage to integrate into a seamless whole--it's not seamless now, which explains my rating--then this score could go up.
