Monday, October 24, 2022 - Highly recommend if you can find it with the caveat that it is time to drink up any remaining holdings over the next 3-5 years. At this point of maturation a very good QPR wine at the original release price and still a reasonable QPR at the current avg CT price. Drink or hold but as noted above am leaning heavily on the drink - no further upside to additional cellaring and although fully mature and at peak my feeling is that the wine will start slowly degrading over the next few years. 2 bottles recently acquired as part of a much larger cellar contents purchase. Popped and poured and a little went into the cooking as well and it took a bit to come around - recommend 2-3 hours open in bottle or a short 30-45 minute decant. Reddish purple, peripheral bricking present, completely integrated with well preserved fruit and fading oak & tannins, soft mouth feel and at this point medium - full bodied but no longer a bold wine. Medium length aftertaste. Nose initially somewhat tart and funky but this blew off quickly to reveal tar, lilac, blueberry and plum. Fkavor profile as expected - largely secandary and tertiary flavors of cedar, leather, tar, stone, graphite and a hint of black tea on a somewhat smokey finish. Just a beautiful well aged well made Medoc classic.
