Sunday, July 3, 2016 - Dinner with Ousi and friends (Portrero Hill, SF): Medium ruby with a garnet rim.
Stinky - bretty nose, with lots of developed bruised apple. Extremely developed sweet tertiary blackcurrant. Slightly stinky manure and a bit metallic.
Full bodied.
Elevated alcohol - 14%? (13.5%)
High acid - really bright.
High tannins - rounded but still really really grippy and chewy.
Long finish.
There's a weight a richness to this that's more viscous than you'd expect from Barolo/Barbaresco.
Really long finish, with hints of black cherry and sandalwood.
