Friday, May 19, 2006 - 1988 Nuits St.-Georges 1ers (Chicago, IL): Another 1988 that has emerged beautifully from its long-term cocoon. Dark color with intense blackberry and black cherry on the nose with some really good forest floor components as well. Still quite structured, the powerful fruit has lived long enough to match up to those tannins. Very long finish is both powerful from the fruit, but also fragrant and somewhat elegant. Posterchild for good les St. Georges with some age.
