Saturday, October 16, 2010 - The first whiff from the glass gave me worry. More than a bit sweet on the nose.
The surprise was that the impression didn't carry over to the palate. Forward fruit of cherries and red berries, with refreshing acidity.
Spoofed? The Cinsault adding the lift? Could be either or both.
The Mataro/Mourvèdre/Monastrell added some gamy, earthy notes that raised this a step above a simple quaffer.
Nothing profound here, but it turned out to be a great pair for grilled buffalo burgers.
Drink up. Not one to age.
