88 Points

Tuesday, September 4, 2007 - I've had this singleton in my cellar for a long time. I would have let it sleep, but the uproar over the '97 California Cabs maybe dying was incentive enough to pull the cork. Only had about an hour to decant before dinner--a little more may have been perfect as this bottle hit a peak at the end of dinner.

Color was still a youthful purple and the bottle didn't throw much sediment, so my concerns were misplaced. This turned out to be a decent cool region cab with firm yet integrated tannins. Nose was shy and needed a fair amount of coaxing to show its black fruits. The attack, however, was fairly bold; the taste continued round on the tongue with food friendly black fruits. Not much cut and not a particularly long finish.
