Sunday, November 10, 2019 - Takes two hours in the decanter to reach its potential. Very smoky and lightly sweet, as befits the Margaux appellation. Nose also reveals lovely aromas of black fruit, coffee, and purple flowers. Light truffle and spice after a few more hours. Palate is velvety and quite concentrated, with blackcurrant, plum, and smoke being the dominant notes. A touch gravelly. Medium alcohol and acidity. Quite a long finish. No hard edges. Not a blockbuster vintage but quite a lovely Palmer regardless. At or very near its peak. Tannins are fully resolved.
