Sunday, December 30, 2012 - One of our earlier purchases from the now late-lamented Sams; I presume we had tasted it but have no evidence to that effect. Looks like I exceeded by some years the recommended drink window; no worries on that score. I note that the two locations (in Europe) that offer this wine have prices in the $50 - $80 range, which represents a massive appreciation from the price we paid in 2005.
The rich golden yellow color evinces the wine's age; on the nose there is abundant mineral with a fleeting oaky echo (quite pretty). Really nice on the palate, rich and creamy, complex, earthy, sweet citrus notes. Yes, it is aging but still has life aplenty.
