Thursday, August 31, 2023 - The 2006 Shafer Relentless is a blend of 84% Syrah and 16% Petite Syrah. This wine started more austere and spicy than I remember with Relentless , very N. Rhone-esq. With air, there appeared earthy and savory flavors with some black fruit notes, which is a distinct departure from the glut of riper style new world Rhone varietals bursting with fresh blackberry notes I have had recently. This was a great refresher on the other side of syrah that I haven't touched in quite a while. 94+
