Saturday, February 7, 2009 - As for Society Merlot (same wine maker, same process of oak-ageing). Presumably this wine was made with better grapes of a better pressing. It was certainly oaked for a few months more than the non-Exhibitin equivalent. Noticeable difference also on appearance in that this wine leaves a purple haze/tint clinging to the side of the glass on a swirl (higher alcohol at 14.5%). The Exhibition was also more powerful in its "punch" of fruit but I found this to not be a good thing. At almost half the price, I'd prefer to take 2 bottles of the Society (non Exhibition) wine and leave this bottle to others.
